The Apex Origin Story
Where our BJJ journey began
Both Professor Parwaiz Haidary (Spud) and Coach Sid Halabi trained together at Gracie Parramatta Jiu Jitsu in Parramatta for many years under the Gracie Humaita banner. It is there that they began a friendship that sparked the creation of Apex BJJ. Coach Sid Halabi came from a Cross fit background which brought a phenomenal mindset and physical and mental toughness. A toughness which has only been built on today. Prior to Gracie Parramatta Professor Parwaiz Haidary trained under a Renzo Gracie affiliation academy and prior to that was training at a Machado affiliation. Once Professor Parwaiz moved to Merrylands he subsequently joined the Gracie Humaita team for a period of 10 years.
Apex BJJ was founded with the goal of giving back to the community the very traits that our various coaches taught from Jiu Jitsu. These traits included, a never give up mindset, problem solving at the highest levels, problem solving under duress, remaining calm, being patient and always walking with humility. We try to embody these principles. Apex must become the pinnacle, the peak of creating tomorrows leaders who carry themselves with integrity and humility.
Our Jiu Jitsu Mission For Parramatta & Merrylands
Our mission is to to give back to you what our coaches gave to us. That is focus, discipline, mental toughness and most importantly confidence. Jiu Jitsu changes lives. It transforms kids and adults alike. If you feel uncomfortable in social circles at times, suffer from depression, anxiety, ADHD, ADD, Autism try Jiu Jitsu. The transformations and stories we can tell and show you will blow you away. If you want to simply get fit, want to compete or try something new Jiu Jitsu is for you. If you’ve been bullied, want to be able to defend yourself or simply feel more comfortable knowing you can handle yourself start learning Jiu Jitsu.
The Apex coaches believe that Merrylands can truly benefit from two strong role models for the community and the youth particularly. Merrylands is changing so rapidly but it has had a bad wrap in the media. Apex is ready to be that positive change this community desperately needs. Through Jiu Jitsu and the sport of grappling and martial arts our goal is to target our youth from the roots and up. Inspiring and bringing nationalities, races and religions together on the mats to celebrate each other, not bring each other down.
We teach humility, social responsibility, team work and most importantly self discipline. Doing the right thing is not hard if you have the right role models and community. There is a change coming to the Western suburbs particularly within Merrylands and Parramatta suburbs. Apex BJJ will be a power house for growth
Does your Jiu Jitsu gym consider their price affordable for you?
Should training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu cost an arm and a leg? Of course not. But it is also important to realise the benefits of training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu cannot be measured in dollars. So how should a Jiu Jitsu gym determine how much a membership should cost? There are a few factors that gyms should consider. A few being the target market, community, demographic make up and the gym facility on offer. Also other factors include coaching ability, experience and knowledge base. Do you have lock in contracts?
No we currently do not have lock in contracts to keep memberships as flexible as possible
Can I cancel my membership anytime?
Yes just send us a text message or email. Simple easy and flexible just the way it should be
If i freeze my membership do you charge for this?
No anytime Apex BJJ pauses a membership we do not charge anything while the account is on hold
How Do I Cancel A Membership?
Simply send us a SMS/Text or email that’s it. We don’t ask for Doctor certificates and all the other none sense that typical gyms request. Simple easy memberships that you can pause or cancel anytime
Are the classes beginner friendly?
Yes 100% beginner friendly, we also developed a program and class time specifically for beginners who are just starting BJJ with zero experience
Do I need to be fit to do BJJ?
Absolutely not, BJJ is designed for use of technique to be performed efficiently. You do not need to be fit have great cardio or young to do BJJ. Jiu Jitsu is for everyone
